About The Hillermann Gardeners President Email: sandimcdonald@sbcglobal.net Sandi is one of the second-generation family members who now run the business. Her extensive experience started with learning and working at the nursery as she was growing up. She has been an official employee since 1970. Sandi has a degree in Ornamental Horticulture and is an Advanced Missouri Nurseryman Plant Professional. Having a Pesticide Technician License enables her to be helpful with recommendations for pest problems. She enjoys socializing with customers and offering expert advice on all aspects of the business. Water gardening, container gardening, and shade gardening are some of her specialties. When she is not at work, Sandi enjoys family time, spoiling her granddaughter, taking care of her many pets, and singing.
Vice President Email: shillermann@sbcglobal.net Scott has many years of experience growing up and working at the nursery with his family. He began working at the business as an official employee in 1993. He attended the 2 year Horticultural Program at East Central College. Scott has experience working in the following positions Customer Service Manager, Landscape Material Sales, Delivery Coordinator, and Purchaser of Gravel, Mulch, Compost, Boulders and Topsoil. He can offer good advice on nursery plants and landscape block and stone. As Facilities Manager, Scott is in charge of our communications, buildings, and grounds. Staying involved with his three children keeps him busy when he is not at work.
Don Sherman Nursery Manager Email: nurserydept@sbcglobal.net Along with his AAS degree in Horticulture from East Central College and a Pesticide Technicians License, Don has over 25 years of retail nursery experience. He has been working at Hillermann Nursery & Florist since 1980 and has been the Retail Nursery Manager since 1985. His specialties are water gardening, roses, landscape design, and perennials. Don enjoys gardening in his own yard and trying out new plant varieties. This gives him personal experience of how they grow and perform to share with customers. He enjoys family time, and his two daughters keep him busy when he is not at work.
Charles Kriete Landscape Superintendent Email: ckriete@sbcglobal.net Along with his many years of experience at Hillermann’s (since 1965) Charlie attends many seminars and training sessions yearly through these sources: American Landscape Contractors’ Association, Professional Lawn Care Association of America, Professional Grounds Management Society, Green Industry Expo, University of Missouri Field Day, Missouri Dept. of Agriculture Division of Plant Industry training seminars, and many irrigation and design seminars. Some of Charlie’s specialties are irrigation design & installation, interlocking concrete paving, retaining walls, finish grading, lawn seeding and sodding, lawn care and maintenance, and horticultural pest control. When he is not at work, Charlie enjoys outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, and camping. He has enjoyed working for the Washington Volunteer Fire Department on his spare time for over 35 years.
Dave Wehmeyer Landscape Design Supervisor Email: davewehmeyer@hillermann.com Dave has a AAS degree in Horticulture from East Central College and he is an Advanced Missouri Certified Plant Professional. He has been with Hillermann’s since 1976. His experience includes Greenhouse Manager, Retail Sales, Floral Designer, and Landscape Design Supervisor. He attends yearly seminars to keep up on the latest trends in landscaping and is a licensed pesticide technician. Some of his specialties are water gardening, perennials, shade gardens, landscape design and vegetable gardening. Dave enjoys working in his yard, trying new ideas and plants, which gives him personal experience and expertise to offer our customers. Away from work, Dave enjoys family time, working with his church’s youth group and men’s group, and being involved with other community efforts.
Rick Watson Landscape & Irrigation Designer Email: hillplantpro@sbcglobal.net Rick holds a AAS degree in Horticulture and is a graduate of Sanford Brown Business College. He has 25 years experience in landscape design and 8 years in residential irrigation design and is an advanced level Missouri Certified Nurseryman. Rick has also completed numerous Toro Irrigation seminars and other irrigation courses. He is a certified Toro Irrigation Designer and specializes in irrigation design and block retaining walls. Rick has been on the staff at Hillermann Nursery & Florist since 1994. He enjoys fishing and jogging in his spare time.
Char Landscape Secretary Email: hnflandscape@sbcglobal.net Char is a Missouri Certified Plant Pro, has a Commercial Pesticide Applicators License and holds an AAS degree in Horticulture. She brings over 27 years of horticultural knowledge, including landscape and greenhouse experience to her position at Hillermann Nursery & Florist. Char’s off duty hours include gardening and spoiling her grandchildren.
Betty Landscape Secretary Email: hnflandscape@sbcglobal.net Since she had been raised on a farm, gardening has been a way of life for Betty as well as her parents and grandparents. She raises vegetables, fruit, herbs and flowers. She enjoys canning and preserving the produce from the garden. Betty joined the Hillermann staff in 1995, and she holds a Pesticide Technicians License. She is especially interested in native plants, trees, wildlife and butterflies.
JoAnne Jolley Garden Center Manager Email: gardenrx@sbcglobal.net JoAnne has been in the Nursery and Landscape business since 1992, and she has been with the Hillermann team since 2004. Her experience includes Retail Sales, Nursery Manager, Nursery Buyer, Landscape Material and Hard Goods Buyer. Having a Pesticide Technician License enables her to be helpful with recommendations for pest problems. Her specialties are water gardening and retail herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers. She can offer customers knowledge on retaining wall blocks and nursery plants. When she is not at work, JoAnne enjoys life with her husband on the small farm they own, taking care of the many critters they have, and working in their yard and vegetable garden. Her biggest passion is her children and grandchildren.
Patty Lynch Nursery Plant Buyer Email: pattylynch@hillermann.com Patty has been a welcome addition to the Hillermann Team since 2004. She is a self-taught gardener with over 20 years of experience in the wholesale and retail plant and flower industry. Her specialties include native and perennial plants as well as floral and landscape design. She has also attended and taught several native and perennial plant classes through the years. Patty enjoys anything outdoors related including working with her family in their home garden and trying out new plants, which gives her personal experience of how they perform.
Michelle Annual Plant Grower Michelle earned an AAS degree in Horticulture from East Central College. She has been a member of the Hillermann staff since 1994. During her many years of experience, she has always enjoyed growing the annuals from tiny plugs and then incorporating them into the designs of our many display beds. Michelle likes to test new and old plants for their performance in our humid summer climate. Then, she can use her personal experience to benefit our customers. Away from work, she enjoys family time with her husband and two children.
